Why Support Friends of Residents in Long Term Care?

Your tax-deductible contribution to FOR allows us to advocate for and support the older adults and people with disabilities who receive long-term care in our state.

With the help of donations in 2025, we:

  • Provided 20 community presentations on topics from advocacy, tips for success in long-term care, and navigating in long-term care

  • Assisted over 50 family members, residents, and community members with questions and support in long-term care on our hotline and by email.

  • Met with legislators, state leaders, and other advocates to advance our 2025 Public Policy Priorities. We were able to get several bills introduced this year too!

  • Helped host Aging Advocacy Day on May 7, 2025; a day for aging advocates to come together and meet with legislators about topics related to aging including support for long-term care ombudsman!

  • Celebrated the best of long-term care at our annual Fall Gala where we presented the Sharon Wilder Advocacy Award to two outstanding advocates, Alice Hedt and Kim Johnson.

There is more work we want to do in 2026 to support long-term care in North Carolina as more and more individuals will need care and family members will need support. By the numbers:

Help us continue our critical mission on behalf of long-term care residents, family members, and for future residents in long-term care.
